THE JOB:

Join the culinary team at a premier high-end steakhouse within MGM Grand Detroit as a Fine Dining Cook II, where you’ll craft exceptional dishes in a fast-paced, upscale environment. In this role, you’ll prepare and execute à la carte menu items across multiple stations using advanced cooking techniques, maintain flawless presentation standards, and ensure smooth ticket flow during service. You’ll collaborate closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver an outstanding guest experience while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism.

THE STARTING RATE: $20.94 an hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Prepares meals and other food items according to assignment by the Specialty Sous Chef or Restaurant Chef at assigned Sauté, Entrée, Wheel, Salad/Pantry, Appetizer, or Add-On fine dining stations in accordance with fine dining standards and guest requests.

  • Works in an ala carte setting with the ability to monitor and control ticket flow and continuity of service.

  • Uses recipes and a variety of kitchen equipment to roast, broil, sauté, bake, boil, blanch, braise, fry, sear, and steam food to prepare and reheat soups, salads, sauces, dressings, and other food items.

  • Plate meals or other food items in accordance with plate presentation specifications.

  • Informs supervisor of any irregularities occurring within the food preparation operation.

  • Maintains clean and sanitary work areas throughout the meal period or working shift.

  • Maintains a constant awareness of safety and accident prevention, immediately notifying the supervisor and completing an accident report in the event an accident occurs.

  • Ensures food prep areas and related floor areas are properly clean and safe at all times from any spills or mess that have been created by self or others.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Previous Culinary training or vocational certification preferred

  • Two years of food production/preparation experience in a similar high-volume restaurant setting preferred

  • Food production/preparation experience in a three-diamond rated property or above (AAA Diamond Rating) preferred
