THE JOB:

The Safety leader is responsible for Safety Management for MGM Resorts International event operations at specified Entertainment venues. This position will work directly with the Senior Entertainment leadership, and Property Operations leadership, to ensure compliance with OSHA, Fire Department, Environmental Protection, Health District, and Insurance Carriers. The leader is critical to event operations when activity impacts the normal flow of business, ensuring community compliance, managing integrated relationships within Clark County, and the "CAP" team. The Director is responsible for building safety/compliance action plans, providing solutions to safety issues, and looking for efficiencies in the operations of venues from a safety/compliance standpoint.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Oversee and/or conduct work area inspections, hazard assessments, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage and personal injury investigation support.
  • Research, develop, and implement safety programs to enhance, encourage, and promote a safe work environment. Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with employees and project management personnel.
  • Direct for the submission of Street Closure/Usage Permits in collaboration with the Director of Traffic Management.
  • Design and develop Security/Safety and Event Site Plans. Manages the division’s Emergency Response and Recovery Plan.
  • Manage Business License Requirements. Submit Special Event Permit Applications on behalf of the Company’s large theaters, outdoor venues, and arenas. Responsible for the submission of Event Applications
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to submit the Special Event Food License Requirements and manage Temporary Food Establishment Applications.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the divisions’ relationship with Clark County Fire Department.
  • Design and implement safety strategies across the MGM Resorts International large theaters, arenas, and outdoor venues.
  • Develop Flammable/Combustible Liquid Standard Operating Procedures, Permits, Plans and Reviews. Develop Event Coordination Checklists in regard to Safety Inspection and Quality Assurance.
  • Responsible for Clark County’s payment and submission of Fees & Charges.
  • Collaborate with Project Directors, Contractors, Venue Management to ensure safety is the highest of priority.
  • Review, interpret, and communicate company, local, state, and federal regulations to ensure understanding and compliance. Conduct safety meetings with various employee/non-employee groups.
  • Oversee division training initiatives including, but not limited to, ET&D OSHA 10-hour class, PPE grounding techniques, Excavation Safety, Confined Space, Competent Person, Forklift Certification, First Aid/CPR, and Defensive Driving. Ensures all employees are properly trained and certified. Inspect work crews for compliance with Company safety rules.
  • Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • 5+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience Safety field or similar industry Required
  • 3+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience Proven management experience in Safety field preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Safety, Engineering, or related field Preferred
  • The ideal candidate is a Safety and Risk Officer and a highly decisive and technically skilled leader who serves as a vital operational partner for our team members and properties. Bringing over five years of dedicated compliance experience within high-volume, fast-paced industries, this professional ideally holds a bachelor’s degree in safety, Engineering, or a related field. They possess a deep, operational mastery of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations, alongside a strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Beyond their technical expertise in occupational health, fire and life safety, and environmental protection, this individual is defined by outstanding high-level judgment and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
