THE JOB:
As a Convention Porter, you will play a key role in creating exceptional event experiences by setting up, maintaining, and breaking down meeting rooms and banquet spaces. You will ensure event areas are clean, organized, and ready for guests, assist with room refreshes and equipment setup, and support the successful execution of conventions, meetings, and special events while delivering outstanding guest service.
THE STARTING RATE: $22.7113 hourly
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Maintain and clean meeting rooms and event spaces before, during, and after events in accordance with departmental procedures
- Ensure public areas are kept clean and organized and remove unnecessary items from service areas
- Stock and organize carts with designated materials and equipment and transport them to assigned function areas
- Inspect setup rooms for cleanliness and compliance with group requirements and refresh meeting rooms as needed according to department standards
- Maintain knowledge of departmental standards, scheduled group functions, event locations, room names, meeting and banquet room setups, and all safety and security guidelines
- Maintain linen inventory and stock storage areas
- Set up meeting rooms and banquet function areas with tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, podiums, stanchions, easels, and other equipment as specified by event requirements and departmental standards
- Set up table linens, skirting, and tabletop items, including water pitchers, amenities, and glassware, according to event requirements and departmental standards
- Break down banquet function areas as scheduled, store reusable items, and return equipment to designated storage areas
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of closets, storerooms, and storage areas by removing trash, wiping down shelves and counters, and keeping floors clean
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Prior experience in a similar position preferred
- Certification and experience operating electric pallet jacks and forklifts preferred
